Gay targets Powell's 9.77 UK all-comers 100 metres record

Tyson Gay has not ruled out attacking the UK all-comers 100 metres record at the British Grand Prix in Gateshead on Monday.

After lowering his national record to 9.71 seconds at the recent World Championships, Gay would normally have a good chance of lowering the mark of 9.77secs set by Asafa Powell three years ago.

But the 27-year-old, who was already receiving treatment for a groin injury prior to claiming the silver medal behind Usain Bolt’s epic 9.58s world record in Berlin, is still troubled by the niggling complaint.
