Everton have confirmed the signing of USA international Landon Donovan on loan.
The Los Angeles Galaxy forward will join the Toffees on a two-and-a-half month deal at the beginning of January as he looks to maintain his form and fitness ahead of next summer’s World Cup finals.
Earlier in the week, the Goodison Park club revealed that they were in advanced negotiations with both Donovan and Major League Soccer to secure the 27-year-old’s services.
The loan deal mirrors that of Galaxy team-mate David Beckham, who will shortly head to AC Milan following the end of the MLS season.
“It’s all done now,” confirmed manager David Moyes. “Landon will join us at the start of January.
“He will come in and add pace, he’s a good finisher and is captain of the USA national team so he has that experience.
“He’s the first of two or three players I want to bring in during January.”
Donovan is the USA’s most capped player having made 120 international appearances. He was also named the most valuable player in MLS last season.
