Wayne Rooney’s ankle injury has left striking ace sweating on the rest of his season.
The Manchester United star limped out after being substituted during the Champions League second leg game against Bayern Munich on Wednesday.
The 24-year-old England international burst a blood vessel and there are concerns further punishment could leave him on the sidelines for weeks.
And United ace Darren Fletcher said: “He was targeted. There were a few tackles from behind.
“It’s not war but teams do what they can to win.”
