Ostrava, Czech Republic – Veronica Campbell-Brown, the fastest women in 2010, will headline the 100m at the 50th Golden Spike meeting in Ostrava, Czech Republic, on 31 May, while Cuban Olympic 110m Hurdles Dayron Robles will again make his appearance.
“I heard a lot positive about the meet and hope to bring some sunshine from Jamaica to Ostrava,” said the Jamaican, who will be making her first appearance at this IAAF World Challenge Meeting.
The Jamaican two-time Olympic 200m champion and 2007 World 100m champion, led the world at both the 100m and 200m in 2010, clocking 10.78 and 21.98, respectively.
Her 100m performance at the Samsung Diamond League fixture in Eugene was also a career best for the 28-year-old.
In Ostrava Campbell-Brown will be aiming for the 11.03 meet record set by Ivet Lalova in 2005 and perhaps the meet’s first sub-11 clocking.
Also confirmed for the Czech fixture is a now regular guest, Robles. The Cuban achieved his global mark of 12.87 in Ostrava in the run-up to his Beijing Olympic triumph in 2008. He will return for the fifth time after collecting three straight wins (2008-10) and one third place showing (2007).To send email correction or further classifications, please shoot us an email at lcummings [at] world-track.org.
