Reese Hoffa beats Christian Cantwell at Kansas Relays

LAWRENCE, Kansas — Reese Hoffa captured the invitational Men Shot Put crown at the 2012 Kansas Relays in Lawrence on Wednesday.

The event, which attracted close to 3,500 fans, who lined up in the heart of downtown Lawrence, saw some of the world’s top Shot Put throwers battling things out to excite the supporters.

It took Hoffa his last effort to win the event – a throw of 21.73m – which saw him beating fellow American Christian Cantwell, who did 21.71m, also in the last round.

Both throwers drew cheers from the fans, following the fifth round, which saw Cantwell increasing his lead to 21.70m.

However, Hoffa answered with a 21.65m effort before switching places in the last found with the winning mark.

Finishing third was Justin Rodhe, who was marked at 21.11m, while former world champion Adam Nelson had 20.79m for fourth place.
