After the first day of action on Tuesday, Austin Jamerson of Cornell leads the men’s decathlon, with Northern Illionis’ Latesha Bigby taking a narrow bedtime lead in the women’s heptathlon.

Jamerson, who finished in the top positions in the long jump and high jump, has tallied 3,728 points after five events to take a commanding 220-point lead over Vinny Biunno of Franklin Pierce who sits second on 3,508 points.

After running 11.36 in the 100m to tie for the second fastest on the day, Jamerson leaped 6.92 meters (22 feet, 8 1/2 inches) to take the lead after two events and he’s been holding that position ever since.

Jamerson strengthened his lead at the top after picking up 840 points in the high jump — clearing 2.04 meters (6 feet, 8 ¼ inches).

Wesley’s Patrick Schlosser, who led after the first event, ended the day in third with 3383 points — 345 points behind the leader.

In the women’s heptathlon, Bigby went to bed with a slim 57 points lead over second place Katherine Petruzzelis of Villanova, while her Northern Illinois teammate Claudette Day is sitting third and is just 63 points behind.

Bigby, who won both the 100m hurdles and 200m dash on the track, finished the day with 3,197 points after the first four events of the competition. She blasted to 13.79 seconds to score 1,008 points in the hurdles.

Sitting second is Villanova’s Petruzzelis, who is on 3,140 points, while Day ends the first day with 3,134 points.

Defending champion Noel Jancewicz of Penn is also close to the leaders, as she finished the day just 107 points behind.

Action gets underway at 10:00 am on Wednesday in the decathlon, while the heptathlon begins 30-minutes after.

The men will contest five more events, with the women battling in three more events on the second day.

Both competition conclude on Wednesday and Live Results will be available. Fans can also Watch LIVE Penn Relays Streaming on FloPro (Starting on April 23).
