British distance runner Jo Pavey has plans to make a challenge in the women's 10,000m at 11th IAAF World Championships in Osaka, Japan, this summer.

Pavey, who won a silver medal in the women's 5,000m at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Australia, said the swirch will be new to her.

"I've never done the (10,000m) distance before, so that will be something new for me," said Pavey.

The 33-year-old will begin focusing on the event at the end of her indoor season, which is expected to conclude after next month's European Indoor Championships in Birmingham. She will run the 3,000m.

"I'm planning to get the world 10km qualifier at the European challenge meeting in Italy," she said.

She is also in the Great Britain team for the IAAF World Cross Country Championships, scheduled for Mombassa on 24 March.
