LONDON — Disgraced sprinter Dwain Chambers has been named in the Great Britain team for next week’s European Team Championships in Leira, Portugal.
The 31-year-old has been selected to the run the 100-metres, but will not be apart of the 4x100m sprint relay setup.
Chambers received a called up after showing impressive form this season – winning the European Indoor Championships 60m title and then backed that up outdoor with 10.06secs, the fastest time by a European sprinter this summer.
"We have selected every athlete purely on a performance basis, not on promise or potential," Britain’s head coach, Charles van Commenee said.
"It is all about who are the best people for the job. We have selected the strongest possible team from athletes who are fit."
