Danvers and Dasaolu out of European Team Championships

LONDON — Two Britain’s bright sparks, Tasha Danvers and James Dasaolu will both miss this weekend’s European Team Championships with injury.

LONDON — Two Britain’s bright sparks, Tasha Danvers and James Dasaolu will both miss this weekend’s European Team Championships with injury.

Danvers, the Beijing Olympic bronze medallist last summer, will miss the meet with a hamstring injury she picked up running in the medley relay in the inaugural Super8 event in Cardiff last Wednesday.

Sprinter Dasaolu, who was named in the relay squad for the team championships, will also be out with a hamstring picked up at the IAAF Golden League meeting in Berlin on Sunday.

The 21-year-old pulled up 20m from the line and finished ninth in a race won by Antigua and Barbuda’s Daniel Bailey.

While he is still officially part of the squad, it looks unlikely he will be fit enough to compete.
