­Irish vaulter Saxer Named to USTFCCCA Track All-Academic Team

NOTRE DAME, Ind. ­ Irish pole vaulter Mary Saxer has been named to the USTFCCCA Track and Field All-Academic Team, the organization announced Monday.

Saxer earned two All-America honors this season in the indoor and outdoor pole vault before graduating in May with a degree in Marketing and a 3.093 cumulative grade-point average.

Saxer garnered her first All-America citation at the NCAA Indoor Championships in March with a ninth-place finish in the pole vault. She
followed that performance with a third-place pole vault finish and her second All-America honor at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in June.

The Lancaster, N.Y. native also won the BIG EAST indoor and outdoor pole vault titles this season and set a new BIG EAST Outdoor Championships record with a mark of 4.20m (13-9 1/4).
