LONDON — Usain Bolt, the Beijing triple Olympic champion plans to run in the 400-meter relay at the London Grand Prix, where he’d already committed to race in the 100m.
Bolt, who cruised to the sprint double at the Jamaica trials, said on Monday that he is using the July 24-25 meet at Crystal Palace as a tuneup for the world championships in Berlin next month.
"To be racing at Crystal Palace in two different events over the two days will be the ideal tune up for me ahead of Berlin," he said.
"My performance at last weekend’s Jamaican National Championships, where I won the sprint double and ran a world leading time in the 100m, was very pleasing so I hope I can take that form into both events in London."
The towering Jamaican sprinter was phenomenal at the Beijing Olympics last summer, setting world records in the 100, 200 and 400 relay.
