BARCELONA — Five Olympic champions, including Jamaica’s Veronica Campbell-Brown and Poland’s Tomasz Majewski are on the list of participants competing at the 15th Míting Ciutat de Barcelona EAA meeting on 25 July.
The organisers also confirmed that Americans David Neville, a member of the winning 4x400m relay team in Beijing and a bronze medal in the open race and Darold Williamson, who win gold in the 4x400m in Athens five years ago, as well as Virgilius Alekna, gold medallist in Athens in the Discus, will also be on show.
Campbell-Brown, a two-time Olympic 200m champion and reigning World 100m champion, will race over the 200m against American Torri Edwards and fellow Jamaican Simone Facey, as she continues preparation for the IAAF World Championships next month in Berlin.

An exciting men’s Shot competition is also on the cards with Majewski and American World Indoor champion Christian Cantwell set to do battle.
The big heavers who have split their six clashes three victories apiece, will seek to gain some advantage a head of Berlin. Majewski defeated his rival the last time they met at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Oregon earlier this year.
Meanwhile, three other strong contenders for the title in Barcelona are Manuel Martínez, Dan Taylor and Donald Scott.
A quality discus competition will feature Lithuanian Alenka matching up with Polish Beijing champion Piotr Malachowski and Span’s Frank Casañas, who finished fifth at the same Games.
Also in the field, Olympic silver medallist and world indoor champion Godfrey Mokoena will feature in the men’s Long Jump, while Germany’s world champion Betty Heidler goes in the women’s hammer throw filled up with excellent candidates.
Neville and Williamson will race in the men’s 400m against Belgian twin Kevin and Jonathan Borlee.
