STOCKHOLM – Sweden’s former Olympic and reigning heptathlon champion Carolina Kluft is doubtful for the World Championships in Berlin after injuring her leg competing in the Long Jump in a low-key meeting at Karlskrona on Tuesday.

According to her coach Agne Bergwall, Kluft, who skipped the European Team Championships in Portugal to concentrate on her preparation for the worlds, injured her thigh during the second round of the long jump competition in her native.

She was recovering from a slight thigh problem she picked up during the Golden League meeting in Oslo last Friday and was hoping to be fit for the remainder of the season.

The 26-year-old Kluft will undergo a scan later this week after which a decision on how long she will have to sit out for would be announced.

Kluft, a three-time world champion and 2004 Olympic gold medallist in the heptathlon was hoping to mark her mark in the long jump in Berlin after deciding to not contest the multi-event.
