MARIBOR – World Indoor 800 metres record holder Jolanda Ceplak made her come back to track and field a successful one after winning her specialty at the low-key Slovenian Grand Prix meeting in Maribor on Tuesday.

The Slovenian runner who returned from a two-year doping ban, clocked two-minutes 07.13 seconds to win the race, and although the performance did not lit-up the world, she was happy to hit the competitive track once again.

“I can run much better. After two years, it was hard to race again,” she said on an online news site.

Ceplak plans to race at the Slovenian national championships this weekend. She hopes to lower the time, but does not expect any great leap from her last outing.

She also showed no interest in competing at the IAAF World Championships in Berlin next month.

“Until the end of September, I plan to run in some five races,” she said.

“But I don’t expect to have better results until next season. I hope to soon get back to the two-minute time,” Toplak added.

Ceplak tested positive for erythropoietin (EPO) in June 2007 and was suspended for two years, which ended onl July 24, 2009.

The world championships run from August 15-23.
