Beijing 2008 Olympic 5000m and 10,000m champion Tirunesh Dibaba making her comeback over 5000m from an injury, and World and Olympic Long Jump champion Irving Saladino in battle with world season leader, the resurgent Dwight Phillips will be two of the many attractions at the two-day Aviva London Grand Prix in Crystal Palace, London, this coming weekend (24/25).
Already a four-time World champion, Dibaba made history at the Olympic Games in Beijing last year when she became the first female athlete to win both the 5000m and 10,000m titles.
In May, Dibaba finished second over 5000m behind Kenya’s World cross country silver medallist, Linet Masai in New York in her only outing on the track so far this season.
Meanwhile, in the men’s Long Jump, Saladino of Panama who set a career best of 8.73m last year, is set to face this year’s number one ranked Dwight Phillips of USA….IAAF Full Report
