Suarez scores World-leading 8,654 in Decathlon at CAC Champs

Havana – Jamaica’s men and women sprint relay teams were beaten on a day when Cuban Olympic Games bronze medallist Leonel Suarez threw the Javelin 77.47 metres for a Championship record and world leading 8,654 points in the decathlon at the CAC Championships here at Havana’s Estadio Panamericano on Saturday.

In his first decathlon since March, Suarez started slower than expected with 11.07 in the 100m, but recovered with a personal best of 7.42m in the long jump. He threw the shot put 14.39m, cleared the high jump bar at 2.09m and recorded a personal best of 47.65 in the 400m to total 4,325 points, close to his compatriot Yunior Diaz (4,354)…..READ MORE
