BERLIN — The five Jamaicans who missed the team’s pre-World Championships training camp in Nuremberg, Germany has reported to the team village, but it is still uncertain if they will be taking part in the championships.

The five athletes, Asafa Powell, Shelly-Ann Fraser, Sherika Williams, Melaine Walker and Brigitte Foster Hylton, all members of the Maximising Velocity Power (MVP) Track Club, failed to show up for the mandatory camp the nation’s governing body had scheduled.

The athletes who are coached by the world-renowed Stephen Francis, went through their drug testings on Tuesday, and will join their fellow teammates in training on Wednesday, as they continue to wait on the final verdict of the Jamaican officials, who reportedly had threatened to boot them off the team.

The world championships start in Berlin this weekend.
