EBENSEE — The 14th edition of the Feuerkogelberglauf, one of the WMRA Grand Prix events saw pre-race favourites Geoffrey Gikuni and Andrea Mayr being crowned champions in perfect condition in Ebensee on Sunday.
The event which attracted some 200 runners from over a dozen countries, saw Kenyan Gikuni winning the men’s 11km race with a performance of 55.30, a time that just fell short of the course record held by Jonathan Wyatt, at 55:19.
Meanwhile, European Champion Mayr won the 9km women’s course race with 1.00.58.
She beat Mateja Kosovelj of Slovenia with 1.02.36, while the Czech runner Iva Milesova (1.03.37) finished third.
