The company in China is also reportedly willing to buy out any entity with which Usain might have agreements, and would supersede them in base salary while offering a licensing deal that Bolt currently does not have. If Bolt agrees to the deal, it could be signed in a matter of weeks.

Bolt is currently signed to sporting goods maker Puma AG, which reportedly pays the world record holder in the 100- and 200-metre sprints and triple World Championships gold-medallist about US$1.5 million a year. 1. Wow! 100 mill. I honestly don’t know whether or not Bolt is willing to take such a deal. The money is great and anything but Puma has been with him every since what.. World Juniors? They’ve stood by him ever since that time and now that Bolt is arguably the most successful sprinter in all of track and field, people want him. It’ll be interesting to see what he does.

  2. Puma has got to step up to the plate and get with today’s marketing prowess. Usain Bolt broke three world records in Beijing and two world records in Berlin. As of my writing these comments I have not seen one commercial with Usain Bolt promoting Puma’s products.
HE DOES SO VOLUNTARILY AFTER EACH RACE WHEN HE TAKES OFF HIS SPIKES AND PARADE AROUND THE TRACK..
Puma claimed to make somewhere in the range of $300 million in sales on the Jamaican apparel and the YAAM spikes after Bolt’s exploits in Berlin. There were cases where they sold out because they did not bring enough gears to sell.
Puma should wise up soon because the Asian market is primed for someone like Usain Bolt and Nike is lurking in the weeds.
I really would hate to see Puma lose him since they were the first to spot him, believed in his talents and sign him.
All I am saying to Puma is……….Usain Bolt is your biggest commodity right now….hold on to him, renew his contract and sign him to a lucrative deal that will make both of you happy.
There is blood in the water………and the harbor sharks are around.

  3. well said yaadman. we can admit that puma was with bolt from the start but then he has caused them a huge jump in sales so they need 2 pay more or be prepared 2 lose him
