Sammy Kitwara blazed his way to a 58:58 victory at the Fortis Rotterdam Half-Marathon on Sunday.

The 22-year-old Kenyan performance was the fourth fastest ever and makes Kitwara just the sixth man to dip under the magical 59-minute barrier. It was the second major Half Marathon victory in The Netherlands in the past six months time for Kitwara. In March he won the City-Pier-City Half Marathon in The Hague, beating the emperor of the road Haile Gebrselassie into second place.
