MVP track club to get multi-million dollar training facilities upgrade

Former 100-metres world record holder Asafa Powell and his fellow MVP track club teammates will be getting a new gift for their outstanding performances in recent years.

Powell, along with Olympic and world champions Shelly Ann Fraser and Melaine Walker, in addition to world champion Brigitte Foster-Hylton and Olympic and world silver medallist Shericka Williams, are to get an $8-million upgrade at their training facilities at the University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech).

At the past two major championships – the Beijing Olympics in August in 2008 and the IAAF World Championships in Berlin this past August – MVP athletes have won, among others, five individual gold medals and set three national records…..Read More
