Missing Emporia State University sprinter found Dead

EMPORIA, KAN – An Emporia State University student-athlete missing since Sunday was the victim of a fatal motorcycle accident north of Emporia. Authorities identified the student as 24-year-old Samuel Jacob Williams, a junior business management major from the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast), in western Africa.

The accident occurred Sunday afternoon near the K-99 intersection with Lyon County Road 190. Authorities suspect Williams lost control of his motorcycle at a curve in the road, struck a road sign, and was thrown from the vehicle. A Lyon County sheriff’s deputy located the body approximately one-tenth mile off the roadway late Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 4.
