MONTREAL: It has been a long road back these past few months for one of the most decorated Canadian sprinters all time, Bruny Surin of Montreal.

To his credit, Surin is an Olympic Gold Medalist (96), a two time world indoor champion (93 & 95), a two time world champion (95 & 97); a two time world Silver Medalist (95 & 99) and the 5th fastest 100m Sprinter of all time not to mention the Canadian Record holder over 100m and 60m.

Surin, who last raced in 2002 at the Commonwealth Games in Manchester, England slowly began training a few months ago while testing his clothing and supplement lines that both bear his family name.

He quickly regained his fitness and strength and made it official that he would mount a come back and chase after a new goal – to establish a new Canadian and World Masters Record in the 50 metres on December 5th at the Tomlinson Field house on the McGill University Campus. He has proclaimed he will race three times over the next months, two times to chase the 50m record and once attained he will then attack the 60m records.

Surin, who has been posting videos each Friday via his face book account, has been receiving much encouragement from friends, national team members and old competitors. The current record stands at 6.20 for the 40 – 45 category, a mark Surin feels is well within his reach.

Since leaving the sport Surin has become an avid business man launching the Surin Group of companies. Surin Clothing, Xistence Supplements, The Bruny Surin Foundation and Top Elite Management. Furthermore, a few months ago, his autobiography Le Lion Tranquille was released. One thing for sure, he has not slowed down by any means.
