Craig Mottram sent national selectors a clear reminder of what Australia will be missing at next month’s Commonwealth Games by storming to victory at the Great North City Games.
The former world championships bronze medallist powered away from the field in a two-mile race on the banks of the River Tyne in Newcastle in the Australia v England competition.
Mottram believes he should have been selected for Delhi but his late-season form has come too late for the selection panel.
“It won’t be easy to sit on the couch and watch those guys because I think I am a chance,” said Mottram, who won silver in the 5000m at the 2006 Melbourne edition.
“But selectors have made the decision, I didn’t agree with it but that is part of the sport.
“I was lucky early on in my career I was selected when maybe I should not have been, so swings and roundabouts.”….Read More At Brisbane Times
