Jamaican champion Oshane Bailey looked to be cruising when winning his heat of the men’s 100-metres quarter-finals.
Bailey, who defeated Michael Frater to win the Jamaican title earlier this season, clocked a swift 10.12seconds to qualify fastest from the second round.
“I am performing very good right now,” he told BBC Sports after his race.
“Tomorrow I am just going to go out there, listen to what my coach say and execute the race and hopefully I will make the finals.”
Fellow Jamaican Lerone Clarke also looked very impressive when he produced a solid 10.19secs to take his race.
“I was just looking to do enough to qualify and not to run too fast as yet.
“Tomorrow I am just going to go to semis and try to make the finals and then after that its all gold.”
Mark Lewis-Francis of Great Britain ran 10.15secs to win his heat.
