Following the announcement of the five male athletes still in contention for the 2010 World Athlete of the Year award yesterday, the IAAF has the pleasure to announce the names of the five athletes who have been shortlisted for the female award.
With the inclusion of athletes representing five different countries and three different continents the list of female finalists is yet another confirmation that athletics truly is the most universal sport.

The winners of the 2010 World Athlete of the Year Awards will be announced live, on stage, during the 2010 World Athletics Gala, which will take place in Monaco, on 21 November 2010.

With just over ten days to go to the celebration of the 2010 World Athletics Gala, the IAAF has the pleasure to announce the five Male Athletes who are still in contention to become the 2010 World Athlete of the Year.
Following a three-week poll which combined online votes from track and field fans around the world on the one hand and email votes from the recognized IAAF Family on the other hand, the five athletes who gathered the most votes are:
