Jeremy Wariner eased to Drake Relays 400m victory

American star quarter-miler Jeremy Wariner cruised to victory in the men’s 400 metres dash at the 2011 Drake Relays, hosted at America’s Athletic Classic at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa this weekend.

Wariner, a three-time Olympic gold medalist won the invitational race in 45.19 seconds – beating Greg Nixon, who crossed the line at 45.98 and Teddy Venel of France who ran 46.02.

“This meet has always been extremely supportive,” Wariner said after the win. “The fans have always come out in the past, whether it was rain, sleet, hail — they’re always out there.”

The women’s race went to Shana Cox in a time of 51.78, just out-leaning Mary Wineberg, at 51.79 and Shareese Woods, who clocked 52.32.
