Veronica Campbell-Brown ready for another fast time in Ostrava

Ostrava, Czech Republic – Veronica Campbell-Brown is targeting an impressive performance as she continues to fine tune her preparation for the Jamaica National Championships next month.

The Olympic Games two-time 200 metres defending champion will line up in the women’s 100m dash at the 50th edition of the Ostrava Golden Spike meeting on Tuesday and she is hoping to build on her season’s best of 10.92 seconds in her final race before the trials.

“It looks like this will be my last race before the Jamaican Trials, that means an important one,” said Campbell-Brown, who arrived on Friday for the meet, which will also see her fellow countrymen Usain Bolt and Yohan Blake competing at.

“I will run heats and finals, two possibilities for a good time. My goal is to be faster as at my last meet and that was 10.92 in Shanghai.”

In her last race, Campbell-Brown held off a late surge from Carmelita Jeter to beat the world-leader, after getting a good start.

There will be no Jeter in Ostrava, but the Jamaican former world champion will face Jamaican young star Schillonie Calvert, who only recently ran 11.05 for a personal best victory in Hengelo, compatriot Aleen Bailey, fellow Caribbean star Bahamian Debbie Ferguson, as well as Americans Lashauntea Moore and Stephanie Durst.
