ZAGREB, Croatia (Sporting Alert) — Croatian gold medal favourite Blanka Vlasic plans to compete at the upcoming IAAF World Championships despite suffering from an injury.
The world high jump champion Vlasic is currently carrying a partially torn muscle in her left leg, but said she would not stand for watching the competition on television, as it would feel “as if someone had a party, but did not invite me.”
Vlasic is expected to battle things out with Russian world-leader Anna Chicherova, Italian Antonietta Di Martino, among others at the worlds, which start on Aug. 27 in Daegu, South Korea.
The women’s high jump is scheduled for Sept. 3.
