DAEGU (Sporting Alert) — Usain Bolt false-started from the men’s 100m and failed to defend his title, as Yahon Blake powered his way to victory at the IAAF World Championships in Daegu.
Bolt shockingly jumped the gun – and knew right then that he had made the biggest mistake of his career.
Blake held his nerve though and went on to recover from a poor start to crown himself world champion with a 9.92 seconds run in a strong headwind.
American Walter Dix finished second in 10.08 and Kim Collins of St Kitts and Nevis taking the bronze in 10.09.
Bolt was seen as the favourite to take the gold medal following the withdrawal of Tyson Gay and Asafa Powell.
The Jamaican will now look to the 200m and 4x100m for redemption.

It is poetic justice,Bolt false starting and loosing the
gold in the 100m.
Michael Johnson: Just give Usain Bolt the gold, no one can stop him —Except himself, that is.

Yes , Blake is a threat , but he is no BOLT.
I am sure Bolt is aware of his mistake and it won’t happen again.

This STUPID rule needs to be ERODED and ERASED once and for all. This is no way to display an athletes potential.

This STUPID rule needs to be ERODED and ERASED once and for all. This is no way to display an athlete’s potential. The only good thing that came of this was that another Jamaican star gets to shine.

Bolt no doubt, asfar as I am concerned is the fastest athlete ever. Perhaps his way of carrying on in front of the cameras, may have just relaxed him a little to much, before the “Big” One.
