World 100 metres champion Carmelita Jeter won the women’s 200 Meter Dash Invitational at the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invitational at Drake Stadium on Saturday.
The American Jeter clocked a world-leading time of 22.31 seconds to win the second section of the event. She defeated Jennba Turnbull, who ran 23.02 for second place in the heat.
The second fastest time on the day, however, went to Blessin Okagbare, who won the first heat in 22.81 seconds.
The men’s race went to American Rubin Williams, who ran 20.83secs.
Great Britain’s Martyn Rooney won the men’s 400m dash in 45.92 seconds. He was distance ahead of second placed Lionel Larry, who ran 47.39.
