PHILADELPHIA (Sporting Alert) — The following are results from the 2013 Penn Relays – USA vs. The World edition on Saturday’s final day of action at Franklin Field in Philadelphia.
Unlike last year where USA teams dominated the challenge, victories were spread out more this year, while there were more closely contested races than in previous years.
The men’s 4x100m was won by the team of Mike Rodgers, Justin Gatlin, Doc Patton and Ryan Bailey and they clocked 38.26 seconds to beat Jamaica.
However, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce made sure the Jamaican supporters had something to cheer for when she blasted down the straight to anchor her country to victory in the women’s race in 42.42.
USA and Jamaica teams battled in the men’s 4x400m, while USA and Great Britain ran to the tape neck-to-neck.
The Americans did hold on to win both races though.
