The four-day Supreme Ventures National Senior Trials are set to begin Thursday morning at 9:30 am local time and run through Sunday.

The action gets underway Thursday morning with the women’s 400m hurdles trials, which will be followed by the men’s event.

The preliminary round of the men’s 100m dash is also set for Thursday morning, but the likes of Bolt, Asafa Powell, who according to reports, has recovered fully from his injury and is ready to run fast, Nesta Cater and Kemar Bailey-Cole, will not have to take part in these early rounds.

They will be in action later on Thursday night though when the heats are sorted out and kick-off at 6:50 pm.

Fraser-Pryce, meanwhile, will have a full day to relax and watch the action from the stands, as she does not have to be in action until Friday, should she decides on racing in the 100m.

The MVP star has a place already on the 100m team, having topped the IAAF Diamond League series in the discipline last year.

Also in action on Thursday are Ristananna Tracey, Shevon Stoddart and Nickiesha Wilson, who will race in the women’s 400m hurdles, while the men’s 400m open heats will see Dane Hyatt, High Schooler Javon Francis, Edino Steele, Akheem Gauntlett and former national champion Ricardo Chambers all taking part in the first round.

The Jamaican Championships will go off without the country and the Caribbean sprint queen Veronica Campbell-Brown, who currently suspended – pending the outcome of her doping violation, while defending world 100m champion Yohan Blake has opted to skip the trials where he was set to race over the 200m, to concentrate on preparing fully for the world championships.

Blake has a wild card to championships after winning the 100m in 2011.

“Veronica Campbell Brown has medalled in almost every senior championships she has been to and her absence from the Jamaican team could affect the quality of the medals we could win,” national senior team head coach Maurice Wilson told the Jamaica Observer.
