USA Tops World Championships Team Rankings

The final points standings and team rankings, following the conclusion of the IAAF World Championships in Athletics in Beijing, China, on Sunday.

The final points standings and team rankings, following the conclusion of the IAAF World Championships in Athletics in Beijing, China, on Sunday.

Points are given to athletes who finished in the top eight in their respective events.

The United States ended the championships with a total of 211 points, after having four or more athletes placed in the top eight at the Bird’s Nest.

USA won six golds, six silvers and six bronze, while seven of the country’s athletes placed fourth in their respective events as well.

Kenya, who finished a top of the medal rankings, was second to the USA in the points table, with 173 points.

Jamaica, who like Kenya, collected seven gold medals and were second in the medal ranks, finished in third place on 132 points.

The top five team ranking was completed by Germany, with 112.50 points and Great Britain, with 94 points.

Hosts China were just behind in sixth place on 93.50 points.
