Usain Bolt

Follow updates from the 55th staging of the Ostrava Golden Spike meeting – an IAAF World Challenge event on Friday. Usain Bolt will be in action in the men’s 100m and he wants to run a world-leading time today.

Bolt opened his season with a 10.05 seconds performance last weekend in the Cayman Islands, but he says he’s feeling good and wants to run a 9.80 seconds today. He will be making his 8th appearance in Ostrava and the world record holder has enjoyed some fruitful times in the past at this Golden Spike meeting.

“I had a tight hamstring after my last race,” said Bolt.

“But I went to see a doctor and I’m feeling much better now. I know that the more I run, the better I’ll get, so I’m happy that I started racing early this year.

“If I can continue on the right path to the Olympics, I definitely think world records are possible in Rio,” he added.

“I really want to run sub-19 in the 200m; that’s my focus.”

Also competing at the meeting are Zuzana Hejnova, Pavel Maslak, Kaliese Spencer, Jeremy Wariner, Johnny Dutch, Javon Francis, Julius Yego, Renaud Lavillenie and Shawn Barber.
