KINGSTON – As expected, Usain Bolt and Janieve Russell were among the athletes named in Jamaica’s team for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, Brazil.

Included in the squad as well is Hansle Parchment, who missed the recently concluded Jamaica Trials because of an injury.

Women’s 100 metres champion Elaine Thompson, who pulled out of the championships after the semi-finals of the 200m with hamstring soreness, was also named in the team.

All four athletes submitted medical exemptions to the JAAA and will get a chance to prove their respective fitness before the Rio Olympic Games.

Bolt competed in the first two rounds of the men’s 100m, but the twice triple Olympic gold medalist was forced to withdrew from the meeting before the final with a left hamstring injury, which was later revealed as a grade 1 tear.
