BIRMINGHAM, UK — Nafissatou Thiam, the World, Olympic and European heptathlon champion will battle with World indoor pentathlon champion Katarina Johnson-Thompson at the Müller Grand Prix Birmingham – IAAF Diamond League meeting on Sunday 18 August.

The combined star athletes will go head-to-head in the women’s long jump at the Alexander Stadium, as they continue to prepare for the 2019 IAAF World Athletics Championships in Doha, later this year.

Thiam, who leads the world with an effort of 6,819 points in the heptathlon, has achieved a personal best and Belgian national record of 6.67m in the long jump this year.

Johnson-Thompson, in the meantime, owns a season’s best of 6.68m for the long jump, and she achieved this when finishing seventh in London, on July 21.

This will be the first time Thiam and Johnson-Thompson will be meeting since last year’s European Championships in Berlin, where the Belgian star took the gold medal ahead of the Briton.
