Marshall Sets World Lead 60m Hurdles Mark At American Track League

Tonea Marshall, a senior on the LSU track and field team, opened her 2021 season with a world-leading time of 7.86 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles on Sunday at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Baton Rouge, La. –  Tonea Marshall, a senior on the LSU track and field team, opened her 2021 season with a world-leading time of 7.86 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles on Sunday at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Marshall was competing against professionals on the American Track League circuit in Fayetteville. Sunday was the first of four meets that will be hosted at the Randal Tyson Track Center over the next three Sundays.

Marshall beat a slew of professionals including Christina Clemons, who has represented the USA at multiple world championship events.

Her time also saw her matching her personal best, which was set in Lubbock, Texas, last Jan.

Marshall has no indoor eligibility remaining for LSU since the NCAA decided not to give 2020 indoor track and field seniors another year of eligibility even though the 2020 NCAA Indoor Championships never took place. Marshall will be eligible to compete for LSU once the outdoor season gets started.
