Caribbean stars Christopher Taylor and Jereem Richards will lineup in the men’s 300m this weekend at the 2021 New Balance Indoor Grand Prix, which is a World Athletics Indoor Tour gold-level event.
The event has been moved to the NYC Parks’ Ocean Breeze Athletic on Staten Island on Saturday (13), as the usual location – the Boston Reggie Lewis Center – is currently serving as one of the primary vaccination site for COVID-19.

Taylor, who opened his season with back-to-back 400m races, will step down in distance to work on his long-speed endurance, as he continues his preparation for this summer’s Olympic Games in Tokyo.
The Jamaican, 21, clocked a personal best of 45.73 when finishing second to American Fred Kerley (45.03) at the American Track League Meeting #1 on Jan. 24.
Meanwhile, Richards, the 2007 World Championships bronze medalist in 200m, will move up to race out of his specialty.
The Trinidad and Tobago sprinter clocked 20.74 seconds to win the men’s 200m at the American Track League Meeting #2 in his most recent race last month and he would like to improve on his 32.10 personal best over 300m this weekend on Staten Island.
Americans Taylor McLaughlin and Kahmari Montgomery will also featured in this race.
McLaughlin comes into the contest with a personal best of 33.62 over 300m, while Montgomery, who own an outdoor best of 33.29, will race competitively in the event for the first time indoors.
The 2021 New Balance Indoor Grand Prix will be aired live on NBC from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 13
