Arkansas women’s and men’s track and field squads won both the team titles at the Arkansas Qualifier in Fayetteville, on Friday (5).
The No. 1 Razorbacks dominated the women’s category after scoring 167 points from 14 contested events to beat the second-place team by 83 points, while the No. 2 ranked men’s squad scored 83 points to edge Missouri.
Dominating Women’s Wins
Arkansas scored in all but one event in which the women took part, including tallying 31 points in the women’s 200m, 28 in the mile, and 23 in the pole vault events.
The hosts had 18 points in the 60m and 400m sprints, tallied 17 points in the 60m hurdles and wrapped up 14 in the 800m. The other scoring events on Friday were the 4x400m and the long jump, with the only event the Razorbacks failing to get a score was the triple jump.
Kansas State with 84 points took second place and was followed by Missouri (42), Arizona (33), and Washington State (29) in the top five.
Kansas (27), UCLA (25), Vanderbilt (14), Arizona State (11) and Utah (2) completed the scoring chart.
Men’s Squad Completes Sweep
Meanwhile, on the men’s side, second-ranked Arkansas scored in eight of the 11 contested events on Friday, with the biggest scoring flow coming in the 60m hurdles where it collected 20 points.
Missouri, which grabbed 39 of its 76 total points in the field events, finished second, while Kansas ended third on 49 points, No. 21 Kansas State (49) fourth and Arizona (48) rounding out the top-5.
No. 19 Arizona State had 45 points for sixth, followed by Washington State (38.5) and UCLA (25.5).
