Sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson will miss the Tokyo Olympics after her name wasn’t included on the official team roster released by USA Track and Field – USATF on Tuesday.
Richardson won the women’s 100 meters in 10.86 seconds at the recently concluded US Olympic Trials at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, last month, but will not compete at the Games in Japan later this month after testing positive for marijuana and given a one-month suspension.
Richardson’s ban is set to end on July 27 which would have cleared her to race in the 4×100 meter relay on Aug. 6, however, she was not selected by USATF, which ended Olympic dreams.
Jenna Prandini, who finished fourth in the 100m will now run the open event, while Gabby Thomas, the 200m champion will join the top three in the 4x100m.
