MUNICH, Germany (August 15) — The following is the complete 2022 European Athletics Championships women’s marathon results in Munich on Monday’s (15) opening session on Day One. Aleksandra Lisowska of Poland won the race with a time of 2 hours 28 minutes and 36 seconds.
“Wow. This is an incredible result,” a delighted Lisowska said after the victory. “Before the race, I did not believe this could happen and still cannot believe it right now that I am the European champion – even though I was fully prepared for this, and I knew I was considered one of the medal favorites, especially after breaking the Polish record last year.”
Lisowska finished ahead of Croatia’s Matea Parlov Kostro, who grabbed the silver medal with a time of 2:28:42, while Nienke Brinkman of The Netherlands, one of the pre-race favorites, secured the last podium spot after running 2:28:52 to take home the bronze.
The top German finisher was Miriam Dattke, who clocked 2:28:52 to just missed the podium, with the top five completed by Giovanna Epis of Italy who crossed the finish line at 2:29:06.
