The 2023 Razorback Invitational: A World-Class Display of Athleticism

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The 2023 Razorback Invitational, held in Fayetteville, AR, on January 28th, was a true showcase of some of the world’s most elite athletes. The women’s 400m Open race was no exception, with Abby Steiner and Shamier Little putting on an unforgettable performance.

Abby Steiner Held On For The Win

In a stunning display of speed and endurance, Steiner came out on top in the women’s 400m Open race, crossing the finish line in an incredible time of 50.59 seconds. Not only did this set a new meeting record, but it also stands as the world-leading event’s current time. Read more: Video – Micah Williams runs 6.49secs, wins 60m at Texas Tech Open 2023

This victory was especially impressive considering the competition. Steiner was challenged in the closing meters by her compatriot, Shamier Little, who is no slouch herself. Little is a 400m hurdles specialist, but she is versatile enough to run several events, and it was clear that she came to compete. However, in the end, it was Steiner who dug deep and pushed herself to the finish line, securing her victory.

It’s worth noting that Steiner is no stranger to success on the international stage. Last summer, she won a gold medal with the USA 4x400m relay team at the World Championships. Her early season preparation is clearly on track, and this performance at the Razorback Invitational is a clear indication that she’s ready to take on the world once again.

Shamier Little: A Force to be Reckoned With Again?

While she may not have taken home the gold, Little’s performance at the Razorback Invitational was nothing short of remarkable. She crossed the finish line in a time of 50.64 seconds, which is just her personal best of 50.57 seconds.

The American’s versatility as an athlete was on full display at the invitational, as she showed that she was able to excel in several different events. Saturday’s performance mirrored the 1:24.65 outing she put in to win the 600m at the Arkansas Invitational on 13 Jan. Little’s ability to compete at such a high level in multiple disciplines is a testament to her dedication and hard work.

Other Standout Performances

While Steiner and Little were the clear leaders in the women’s 400m Open race, there were several other athletes who put on impressive performances at the 2023 Razorback Invitational.

Nicole Yeargin of Great Britain, the World and European bronze medalist in the 4x400m relays, finished third overall and clocked a time of 51.02, while NCAA champion Talitha Diggs of Florida came in fourth overall with a time of 51.34, which she used to win her section.

World Championships Hepthalon bronze medalist Anna Hall set a personal best of 51.45 on her way to taking fifth overall.
