Visser, the 2019 and 2021 European Indoor 60m hurdles champion, is preparing for a what should be a very busy 2023 season that includes several global championships, including the World Athletics Indoor and Outdoor Championships. The Dutch sprinter hurdler owns a personal best of 7.77 secs for the 60m hurdles, but will lace up her spikes for the first time in a competitive race this season and she hopes to making a winning start to the new campaign.
France’s Pascal Martinot-Lagarde, a three-time World Indoor silver medalist, will headline the men’s 60m hurdles field as he looks to build on his season’s best of 7.72 secs in Karlsruhe, on Friday.
Poland’s talented 20-year-old Jakub Szymanski, who was third in Karlsruhe, on Friday and clocked a lifetime best of 7.57 secs in the heats, will look to extend his impressive form at the start of the season against his seniors.
Elsewhere at the 2023 ISTAF INDOOR Düsseldorf, home favorites Malaika Mihambo and Gina Lückenkemper, who will lineup in the women’s long jump and 60m events, respectively, plus sprinters Ewa Swoboda of Poland, Great Britain’s Jeremiah Azu and German Yannick Wolf.
The men’s pole vault is should be a highly competitive competition on Sunday and the event is headlined by USA’s double world champion Sam Kendricks, who opened his season with a clearance of 5.82m in Cottbus.
