Results and the summary from the 66° Campaccio-International Cross Country – 2022 World Athletics Cross Country Tour – Gold level meeting in San Giorgio su Legnano, Italy on Friday (6). Burundi’s Rodrigue Kwizera and Eritrea’s Rahel Daniel were the winners of the men’s and women’s respective titles on the day.
On the men’s side, Kwizera secured his fourth win in the 2022 World Cross Country Tour this season after finishing first in the 10.0km race with a time of 28:42, beating Bahrain’s Birhanu Balew, who cross at 28:42 and Yemaneberhan Crippa of Italy who ran 28:47.
The top five finishers were completed by Uganda’s Oscar Chelimo with a fourth place finish in 28:52, followed by Burundi’s Edine Ntakarutimana, at 29:08.
Kwizera’s win at Campaccio on Friday added to his victories in Amorebieta, Alcobendas and Venta de Banos.
Meanwhile, the women’s 6.0km contest went to Daniel, the fifth-place winner in the 10,000m at the World Athletics Championships. She ran 19:10 for first place at Campaccio, beating world 10,000m bronze medallist Margaret Chelimo Kipkemboi of Kenya who ran 19:12 and her fellow Kenyan compatriot Mirriam Chebet (19:38).
