A number of national titles were decided on Saturday’s Day 1 of competition, including the fantastic performance from Konstanze Klosterhalfen, who was one of the main performers with her 8:34.89 outing to win the women’s 3000m title.
“I was definitely nervous because I knew that Hanna [Klein] was super strong,” said Klosterhalfen about her her compatriot after the race on the European Athletics website. “I know there’s more to come in perfect conditions but the feeling of being able to run fast was great.
“I will be training at home in Leverkusen for the two weeks leading up to the European Indoor Championships. We’ll see how far I can go in Istanbul. It’s a new situation again and I’m looking forward to the challenge.”
On Sunday, we can expect to see more highlights with several titles up for grab, including the 400m and 800m races.
