Several top athletes will be in action at the 2023 ORLEN Copernicus Cup – part of the 2023 World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold series. – Schedule, start lists and results
One of the athletes to look out for is Ethiopian Gudaf Tsegay, who will attempt to break the world indoor mile record, two years after lowering the world indoor 1500m record with a 3:53.09 run in Lievin in 2021.
A number of global medal winners are also slated to feature at the meeting, with some top-quality battles set to lead the way.
Among the clashes to pay close attention to is the head-to-head encounter between Ewa Swoboda of Poland and World Indoor champion Mujinga Kambundji of Switzerland in the 60m, plus Jamaica’s world 100m hurdles silver medallist Britany Anderson and another local favorite Pia Skrzyszowska will square off in the 60m hurdles.
World and Olympic silver medalist Keely Hodgkinson, Mary Moraa, the world bronze medalist and Diribe Welteji, who finished fourth at Oregon22, will battle in the women’s 800m, while Olympic and world indoor champion Miltiadis Tentoglou of Greece will take on Sweden’s world indoor and European silver medalist Thobias Montler in the long jump.
After smashing the world record over 600m earlier this year, Hodgkinson said she is looking forward to running in Turin and hopes to put “down a good marker.”
“I have heard the track is really fast so I’m looking forward to putting down a good marker,” she said on World Athletics.
