The 2023 Sun Belt Indoor Track & Field Championships

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham CrossPlex, one of the premier indoor track and field facilities in the United States, is set to host the 2023 Sun Belt Indoor Track & Field Championships this coming Monday and Tuesday. The event will feature 17 men’s and 17 women’s events and will be open to the public, free of charge.

The CrossPlex boasts a unique feature that sets it apart from other similar venues: the indoor 200-meter hydraulically banked Mondotrack SX. The two-day competition will begin each day at 10 a.m. CT with the multi-events, while the running events will commence at 3:05 p.m. CT on Monday and 1:30 p.m. CT on Tuesday.

The Birmingham CrossPlex has been the host venue for the Sun Belt Indoor Track & Field Championships since 2014, and has established itself as a prime destination for high-profile competitions.

The venue’s reputation, combined with the facility’s size and location, make it a prime candidate for attracting other high-profile events in the future.

Arkansas State has a strong history in the Sun Belt Indoor Track & Field Championships, having won the men’s team title in each of the last three years and four of the last six. The Red Wolves also hold the record for the most men’s indoor SBC team titles in conference history with ten.

Their women’s team has also captured the last three Sun Belt indoor crowns and holds seven SBC indoor women’s team titles, the most by any current member of the league.

Last year, Arkansas State accomplished a third sweep of the SBC indoor championships in consecutive years, following in the footsteps of Middle Tennessee’s men and women, who swept the indoor titles in four consecutive years from 2001-04.
