Publix Atlanta Half Marathon 2023 results; wins for Chepkirui and Kidanu

Here are the top Top 10 finishers at the 2023 Publix Atlanta Half Marathon. Vibian Chepkirui of Kenya and Ethiopia’s Tsegay Kidanu won title.

ATLANTA, GA – Vibian Chepkirui of Kenya and Tsegay Kidanu of Ethiopia were crowned champions at the Publix Atlanta Half-Marathon 2023, held on Sunday, 26 February. Although they fell slightly short of breaking the state and course records, which would have delivered $2500 bonuses, their convincing victories secured them each with prize money.

Chepkirui, 28, finished with a time of 1:08:46, taking home $4000. Helah Kiprop of Kenya, the Marathon World Championships silver medalist in 2015, finished in second place with a time of 1:10:30, earning $2500. – Read more: Hailemariyam Kiros and Helene Bekele win Osaka Marathon 2023

In third place was Selam Fente of Ethiopia, finishing in 1:11:12 and taking home $1500. Fourth and fifth places were awarded to Veronicah Wanjiru and Sheila Jerotich of Kenya, who finished in 1:11:27 and 1:13:14 respectively.

In the men’s category, Kidanu crossed the finish line in 1:00:42 and also bagged the winning prize of $4000. Course record holder and the 2022 champion Nicholas Kosimbei of Kenya was pushed back into the second place this year.

The World U20 10,000m bronze medalist in 2014, finished in 1:01:34, while his teammate Geoffrey Koech finished in third place with a time of 1:02:12.

Fourth and fifth places were awarded to Shadrack Kimining and Raymond Magut of Kenya, who recorded times of 1:02:37 and 1:03:01 respectively.

The race, which was a World Athletics Label Road Race, saw a significant increase in finishers from last year, with 3925 half-marathon finishers compared to 2981 in 2022.

The event, which was USATF certified and record-eligible, was held under perfect weather conditions, with a temperature of 63F/17C.

The Publix Atlanta Half-Marathon records are held by Nicholas Kosimbei of Kenya, who finished with a time of 1:00:37, and Dorcas Tuitoek, also of Kenya, who finished with a time of 1:08:23, both in 2022.
