Kingston, Jamaica (23 March 2025) — The 2023 Velocity Fest 12 meeting on Saturday at the National Stadium will feature a highly anticipated women’s 200-meter field, with Briana Williams, Stephenie Ann McPherson, Natasha Morrison, and Sada Williams among the headline acts. This meeting is part of the 2023 World Athletics Continental Tour Challenger series.
Williams, the World U20 sprint double champion in 2018, will continue her preparations for the Jamaica national trials when she takes on a solid lineup. The Tokyo Olympic 4x100m relay gold medalist who is now part of the Titans Track Club and is being guided by Gregory Little and multiply global medalist Michael Frater, will be aiming to replicate her best form when she steps into the blocks on Saturday.
Sada Williams, the Barbadian 2022 Commonwealth Games 400m champion and world bronze medalist in the same event, will be Briana’s main rival this weekend, following her impressive early season form.
The MVP Track & Field Club sprinter is coming off a strong performance at the 2023 John Wolmer Speed Fest last Saturday and she will be confident about maintain her form for another weekend. Williams, who owns a personal best of 22.61 seconds, has already clocked times of 23.06 seconds and 23.12 seconds for the 200m this season.
The field will also feature other notable athletes, including world 4x100m relay silver medalist Kemba Nelson, back-to-back World U20 100m champion Tina Clayton, and two-time world 400m bronze medalist Stephenie Ann McPherson, all of whom will be looking to make their mark in the event.
Krystal Sloley, Natasha Morrison, Remona Burchell, and Shashalee Forbes are also scheduled to participate in the competition, with all athletes aiming to claim the top spot in the field.
The 2023 Velocity Fest 12 has enticed a plethora of top-tier fields, comprising primarily of home-based athletes, all vying to deliver exceptional performances before turning their attention to the becoming a spectator at the upcoming 2023 Boys and Girls High School Championships.
